Partners of the Ramsar Convention

Wetlands International: The cooperation with the Ramsar Convention is based on an agreement which is set out via annual contracts, which include annual programmes. Whereas the Ramsar Secretariat is above all responsible for the administrative implementation of the Convention as well as of general strategies (contacts to governments etc.), the tasks of Wetlands International are mainly technical. For example, the provision of data and technical guidance to the Ramsar Secretariat are priorities of Wetlands International. As an NGO, Wetlands International can in addition carry out some activities that the Ramsar Secretariat cannot.
