In Austria, nature conservation affairs fall within the competence of the Federal Provinces. The experts in the nature conservation departments of the offices of the provincial governments are important contact persons for questions concerning the implementation of the Ramsar Convention.
The representatives of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management coordinate the Austria-wide implementation of the Ramsar Convention. They represent Austria’s position in the Standing Committee and in the Conferences of the Contracting Parties.
